Geeksmas day 17 and it’s Marvel Cinematic Universe news today, about a post Infinity War movie!

We now know who will be behind the camera for the upcoming Carol Danvers’ debut. Marvel have decided to once again work with Ben Davis, who has previously worked as the director of photography on Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Doctor Strange. This year, he was responsible for shooting Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri which gave him the win at Camerimage 2017.

The cinematographer is the latest addition to the Captain Marvel cast and crew, joining the director duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind, Sugar), production designer Andy Nicholson (Assassin’s Creed, Gravity), VFX supervisor Christopher Townsend (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Iron Man 3), costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays (Star Trek Beyond, Blade) screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Rider), Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn and Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury.

Captain Marvel is said to be set during the 90’s and will serve as a prequel to the entire MCU. Meaning that the Captain herself has been hiding out somewhere, while the world has gone to shit! The film is also set to feature the shape-shifting Skrull’s as the main villains and this has some potentially huge ramifications for the entire franchise!

Davis is currently finishing up work on Tim Burton’s Dumbo reboot before shooting Captain Marvel, beginning this January. Both films will hit theaters in 2019 with Captain Marvel opening on International Women’s Day, March 6, 2019.

Are you excited to see what’s likely to be one of the most powerful MCU characters? Where do you think she’s been hiding out? Are there any Skrull sleeper agents? Let us know your thoughts!
