You may remember in the lead up to 10 Cloverfield Lane that there was next to no marketing. A poster was released and a short trailer, as well as a short online campaign. The end of that film very clearly indicated there would be a third installment, well it turns out there is and it was due out next month?!

Formerly titled God Particle, the third film in the Cloverfield franchise which was set for early February, has had not one piece of marketing, though now the reasoning behind this may have been uncovered.

Paramount have announced that the movie has a new release date, thankfully it is not a major shift. Opening April 20th, 2018, the film now has the opportunity to kick off another intriguing and interactive marketing campaign.

The film boasts an impressive cast, starring David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Bruhl, and Chris O’Dowd. Details are still somewhat scarce but what we know is that it was originally centered around astronauts making a monumental discovery. However re-writes and re-shoots, probably inspired by the tame reaction to Life last year, overseen by Abrams may have changed plot threads significantly, constructing something more in tune with the Cloverfield brand. Hopefully the anticipated product delivers when it finally hits theaters later this year.
