RPG-a-Day 2018 Day 11: Wildest Character Name
I’m not one for wild and crazy character names, I find naming a character the hardest part of character generation. I spend way too long trying to come up with something that suits the character and also sounds right since it’s going to be used for the lifespan of the character. I do have a habit of having my characters having shortenings or “nicknames” My level 20 fighter/runecrafter was Adrian Schwarz, but he mostly went by Ade, the watch detective I played in Living Faerun was Thomas Sullivan who more commonly went by his surname, and my current rogue is Rebecca Merinath, but goes by Bex.
In terms of the wierdest names I’ve given characters, it’s mostly been NPCs. Bex’s father is Kentigern “Mungo” Merinath, which I think sounds amazing and may be repurposed in the future for an actual character. When I ran WoW RPG I had a goblin antagonist I named Dr Spaceman, but the character pronounced it Dr Spah-che-min (inspired by 30 Rock), which combined with a New York/Bronx accent was a lot of fun to play.
Tomorrow, I will look at my wildest charater concept…
