– Day 13

Do you like films and music? Well don’t I have the podcast for you. Welcome to Hollie Irvine’s take-over of the FCPN advent with day (and lucky no!) 13.

Now let me tell you all about Edith Bowman’s weekly podcast Soundtracking – shock horror this is my choice.  For film lovers and especially for those who appreciate a crackin’ score and film soundtrack then you’ll love this podcast.

Weekly episodes from the Queen of British Radio speaking to cinematic A-listeners discussing the music in their work. Edi’s most recent podcast from this week was with David Lowery (The Old Man & The Gun, A Ghost Story) which you can treat your ears to below.

Bowman has spoken to the likes of Steve McQueen (Widows), Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, First Man) and David McKenzie (Outlaw King, Hell or High Water). Bowman will interview composers, directors, actors, producers and musicians discussing their relationship with music, both personally and professionally. One of my favourites so far is the episode she done with M.I.A on her new music documentary Matangi – Bowman has a way of enticing everyone in to what she is doing.

Recently having won Gold in the British Radio Awards for Best Specialist Music Show Soundtracking is Bowman’s own venture, built up from the ground at her hands and is quickly becoming one of the most important podcasts in the UK right now.

Bowman knows her stuff more than anyone, she carries every conversation and can always keep her content interesting. I don’t know where she finds the time to be a mum, a superstar broadcaster, host, podcaster and watch all those films – does she sleep? She obviously loves Soundtracking and you can tell with every episode she records.

Check out Soundtracking every week with Bowman and guests and tell me you are not hooked!
